Trump Gets Valuable Endorsement Joe Biden Thought Was His and Wanted Bad

It’s not every day that one of the most prominent groups of law enforcement switches parties. Then again, this isn’t just any old day, month, or even year. But this year, amid some of the craziest times our nation has ever seen, that is precisely what has happened.

On Wednesday, the National Association of Police Organizations or NAPO announced their full and hearty support of President Donald Trump for re-election. According to their own statements, NAPO is a coalition of police unions and associations that “represent more than 1,000 police units and associations, and 241,000 sworn law enforcement officers.”

In the endorsement letter written by the group’s president Michael McHale, the newly recognized commitment is said to be a result of Trump’s “steadfast and very public support for our men and women on the front lines, especially during a time of unfair and inaccurate opprobrium being directed at our members by so many.”

At first, many might be somewhat surprised at the seeming change of heart of the group, mainly because they had been staunch supporters of the Obama/Biden ticket both in 2008 and 2012, according to Fox News.

However, that was in the days when the Democratic party seemed far more moderate and when law and order still took precedence over the fear of offending someone. In addition, Biden, who helped to create the now controversial 1994 crime bill, was someone who had always backed the men and women in blue, standing up for their rights, their jobs, and their ability to do their jobs without walking on eggshells.

Given this past, it was assumed by many that a great deal of the police in our nation, especially those involved in a union, which has been another firm Democratic stronghold, would support the former vice president. And they may have, had George Floyd not been killed while in police custody, starting a nationwide conversation that has prompted many to pull their support from law enforcement.

But when the Democratic left began calling for the “defunding” and disbanding of police locally and around the nation, things changed drastically. Suddenly, those who had supported them for years turned on them, even encouraging so-called “peaceful” protests, riots, and even violent physical attacks against police and the communities that still support them.

And so those like NAPO have been forced to seek support elsewhere, finding it never wavering in our patriotic President.

The endorsement letter says that the group “particularly values your directing the Attorney General William Barr to aggressively prosecute those who attack our officers,” as well as other things including how President Trump has recognized that “America’s law enforcement officers, just like any other citizens, have Constitutional rights, too.”

And therein lies the heart of the issue.

The police, as anyone would, will gladly support those who also back them, who stand up for them and prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that he or she has their back. And Trump has most certainly done so.

As Trump campaign senior advisor Bob Paduchik said in a recent statement, “This endorsement for President Trump highlights that as the Law and Order President, he is defending the hardworking people who risk their own lives every day to keep our communities safe.”

And he continued, drawing a severe contrast between Trump and his Democratic contender.

“Joe Biden has done nothing to stop his parties defund the police movement and remains silent as police officers across the country are being attacked by violent rioters and protesters.”

Now, it may be true that Biden has not wholly endorsed the idea to defund the police. However, he has come out strongly for police “reform” and other such measures that would seek to take much-needed resources from departments nationwide.

And as Paduchik said, Biden has “done nothing” to stop the continued attacks that have been made against law enforcement in cities all over.

Trump, on the other hand, has made considerable efforts to defend police officers and their jobs, even in the face of extreme criticism.

He responded to the somewhat unexpected endorsement by tweeting, “THANK YOU @NAPOpolice and their 241,000 brave law enforcement members for a FULL & COMPLETE ENDORSEMENT! I will always back men and women in blue, and never let you down. LAW AND ORDER will prevail!”
