Oh, Our Mistake. Looting is Just Reparations. Got It

Looting. The Black Lives Matters protesters are guilty of it all over the country. White-owned companies. Black-owned companies. Small businesses, corporations…it doesn’t matter. They’ll ransack any business they want because they can.

A rally in Chicago helps to shed some light on the looting. According to Ariel Atkins defends the looting. It’s not an issue according to her, and she’s gone as far as defending the practice – even after over 100 people were arrested for the mass looting that happened across the city.

It’s reparations. Oh, and it’s totally fine because the businesses have insurance. “Anything they wanted to take, they can take it because these businesses have insurance,” Atkins said. So, because the businesses have insurance, it’s okay to commit crimes.

But, Atkins, the Black Lives Matter organizer who spoke at the Chicago rally says, “I don’t care if someone decides to loot a Gucci or a Macy’s or a Nike store, because that makes sure that person eats. That makes sure that the person has clothes.”

    Wait…what?

The BLM protesters have become so brazen that they’re even live streaming their criminal acts. It’s not just about looting. It’s about violence and destruction. What did these businesses do wrong? Nothing. They’re just in the wrong place at the wrong time. But, they have insurance so suddenly, it’s considered acceptable?

Can someone explain to the BLM protesters that it takes time to file an insurance claim? A business could be out of products and be unable to open their door for weeks (or even months) while the claim is filed and carried out. The BLM protesters are hurting innocent business owners – and many of the businesses that they’re looting are black-owned. So, how do black lives matter? Oh, wait, only some do. Clearly not the ones that own businesses that are being looted.

As for Atkins saying that the looting helps to feed or cloth a person, that’s what jobs are for. Are these people looting because they’re unemployed and hungry or without clothes? Most likely not. That’s another issue. But, the BLM organizers like to try to confuse the issues. BLM was supposed to be about police brutality. So, how does looting and stealing from businesses suddenly tie into what BLM is all about? It’s as if their stance changes based on what the protesters are doing at the moment.

The BLM protesters fail to realize that they don’t get reparations when they’re the ones making the situation worse. The looting that happened over the weekend was as a result of a 20-year-old suspect, Latrell Allen, firing at the police. He fired first. As the Chicago PD Superintendent explains, “This person fired shots at our officers. Officers returned fire and struck the individual.” It’s what happens when you fire at the police.

However, following the shooting, a crowd gathered on the South Side, fueled by misinformation. There was a rumor on social media about the police gunning down an unarmed black teenager – which isn’t what happened.

Misinformation or not, the BLM protesters don’t get reparations. Reparations are for those who have been wronged. Those who pay the reparations are the ones that have done the wrong deed.

Just because a business has insurance doesn’t mean that they should pay reparations. Too many insurance claims and their insurance premiums will go up. So, the businesses end up paying anyway. And so do the insurance companies.

The BLM protesters have to be stopped once and for all. They’re not owed reparations. They have to realize that if the police fire at someone, it’s because they’re protecting themselves. The mayor of Chicago needs to realize what’s going on – and identify that BLM is the problem, not the solution.

Until then, looting will continue to occur because the BLM organizers are under the mindset that they are owed something simply because CPD is trying to do their job throughout the city.
