Two Delaware women have learned their potential fate after they were caught on video stealing a MAGA hat from a 7-year-old boy and harassing him and his family.
According to Fox News, the women were indicted on Tuesday on charges that included second-degree robbery and felony hate crimes.
“Olivia Winslow and Camryn Amy, both 21, were indicted by a grand jury on charges of second-degree robbery, second-degree conspiracy, endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree assault, attempted third-degree assault, offensive touching, and felony hate crimes,” Fox News reported that a spokesperson for Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings confirmed.
The charges against the women mean that they could end up spending as much as 15 years in prison. They are currently, however, out on bail awaiting trial.
“Violence in any form is unacceptable, but harming another person — let alone a child — because of the expression of their views betrays the principles on which our country was founded,” Jennings said in a statement to Fox News.
The pair were arrested after the video of them ripping up Trump signs and stealing the elementary-age kid’s hat near where Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden was accepting his nomination in August of this year. It shows them in a confrontation with the kid who was there, in support of Trump, proudly displaying his red trucker hat.
“That’s somebody else’s hat,” the 7-year-old boy could be heard saying in the video. His comment came after they had already started being destructive to other campaign paraphernalia in the parking lot of the Chase Center in Wilmington, where portions of the Democratic Convention were held.
One suspect grabbed the hat and an adult could be heard from off-screen encouraging the kid to “get your hat back, baby” before one of the pair threw the hat over a nearby high fence.
The kid followed the women on their rampage, demanding that they give his hat back, attracting attention from others nearby. One suspect also allegedly punched an adult male in the face, who came to the boy’s defense.
Widespread outrage sprung up in the aftermath of the video with many calling for the women’s arrest. Not only was it the age gap between the child and the violent adults troubling, but the fact that the kind of attack that was caught on video would be allowed also gave many pause.
Social Justice Warriors of our day have come to the stunning conclusion that the ends justify the means, and the end for them always seems to be getting the president out of office. The justification includes illegal immigrants’ rights, women who need access to abortions and healthcare for all.
Despite the fact that the United States offers some of the most impressive advantages to immigrants and the kind of healthcare that most of the world can only dream of, the most progressive, utopian seeking among the population are still under the impression that the situation can be improved upon.
The world imagined by social justice warriors is one that has been written about by many, but achieved by none. The idea of lots of free stuff and equality for all is something that is sold as an enticing bill of goods by politicians and world leaders. Unfortunately for those who would usher it into the United States, it’s never once been successful.
Utopia seems like a great idea, until human nature eventually rears it’s ugly head and runs everything amok. Anyone who doesn’t believe that will be the eventual end of a world where the government has complete control and those who work hard and those who don’t work at all reap the same benefits, need only look at history to see what really happens when freedom are exchanged for promises of free stuff.
