Is Congress Planning for a New President Before 2024?

By now, you’ve probably heard all about Democratic President Joe Biden’s wishes to run for re-election come 2024. And it does make some sense, right? I mean, just like Trump, he’s only been in for one term and, therefore, has the right to a second if he so wishes.

The problem is that it appears no one else wishes it.

In fact, according to a recent New York Times article, there is a growing number of those in high government positions and even Congress who would vote no for a second Biden term.

The Times interviewed no less than four dozen Democratic officials, and pretty much all of them said they had little to no confidence in either Biden’s ability to lead or to win a re-election bid, particularly if that puts him in opposition to someone like former President Donald Trump. The Times even refers to him as “an anchor that should be cut loose in 2024.”

Then again, some would say that the Democratic Party won’t wait until 2024 to do away with Biden.

This basically comes from a recently passed bill that revises the language used to describe both the US president and their spouse. In and of itself, the bill is nothing all that special and seems only practical in this day and age.

The “21st Century President Act” changes more gender-specific terms in US code like “wife” and “widow” to “spouse” and “living spouse.”

This specifically pertains to 18 US Code § 879, which discusses how Presidents and “certain other persons” should be treated when under threat.

Currently, the code reads, “the wife of a former President during his lifetime, the widow of a former President until her death or remarriage.” And it will soon be replaced with “the spouse of a former President during a former President’s lifetime, the surviving spouse of a former President until the surviving spouse’s death or remarriage.”

Now, don’t just assume this is to make the language of the code less offensive to the LBGT community, although that is part of it. This would also be the preferred language should the United States elect a female president, ensuring that her husband would be provided for and protected.

Like it said, nothing mind-blowing or all that radical.

The question is, though, why now? Why are we just now or suddenly changing the language of the US Code that only pertains to US presidents? In the exact middle of a certain president’s term?

Could it be that the Democratic Party is slowly paving the way to replace Biden before his term is fully up?

    I mean, think about it?

Should Biden be ousted, who is next in line?
